Primolut-Nor 10 mg is an oral endocrine medication formulated with Norethisterone Acetate (10 mg), a synthetic 19-nortestosterone-derived progestin. It exerts powerful progestogenic effects on the endometrium, transforming an estrogen-primed proliferative endometrium into a fully differentiated secretory state. Through negative feedback at the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, it suppresses the mid-cycle secretion of gonadotropins (luteinizing hormone [LH] and follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH]), arresting ovulation and stabilizing the endometrial stroma to prevent irregular desquamation and dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Upon discontinuation, a predictable progesterone withdrawal bleeding occurs within 2 to 4 days, making it an indispensable therapeutic agent for heavy menstrual bleeding, cycle timing adjustments, and endometriosis management, packaged in a box containing 30 scored tablets (3 blister strips of 10 tablets).

How to Use

• Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (Acute Hemostasis): Take 1 tablet (10 mg) 3 times daily for 10 days; bleeding typically stops within 1 to 3 days, followed by a withdrawal bleed 2 to 4 days after the course finishes.

• Menstrual Postponement: Take 1 tablet (10 mg) 2 to 3 times daily, starting at least 3 days before the expected period, and continue for no more than 10 to 14 days; normal menses will resume 2 to 3 days after discontinuation.

• Endometriosis: Initial dose is 1 tablet (10 mg) daily, starting between cycle days 1 and 5, titrated upward to 20 mg daily if spotting occurs, continued continuously for 4 to 6 months without interruption.

• Administration & Precautions: Swallow tablets whole with water, with or without food. Ensure pregnancy is excluded prior to therapy. Contraindicated in patients with active thromboembolic disorders, severe hepatic impairment, or hormone-dependent malignancies.
