Onstal Forte 8 mg is a prescription antiemetic formulation containing Ondansetron, designed for the prevention and management of severe nausea and vomiting. Ondansetron works as a potent, highly selective serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. By blocking serotonin receptors both centrally in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) of the brain and peripherally on vagal nerve terminals in the gastrointestinal tract, Onstal Forte prevents the initiation of the emetic reflex. This higher strength 8 mg formulation is widely indicated for controlling acute and delayed nausea and vomiting induced by highly or moderately emetogenic cytotoxic chemotherapy, pelvic or abdominal radiotherapy, as well as post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) following surgical procedures. Packaged in a box containing 30 film-coated tablets.

How to Use

• Take exactly as prescribed by your physician or healthcare professional.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.

• For Chemotherapy: Typically 1 tablet (8 mg) taken 30 to 60 minutes prior to chemotherapy, followed by another 8 mg dose 8 to 12 hours later, then continued as prescribed for 1 to 2 days after treatment completion.

• For Radiotherapy: Typically 1 tablet (8 mg) taken 1 to 2 hours before radiotherapy sessions.

• For Post-Operative Nausea: Administered as directed by the treating surgeon or anesthesiologist.

• Precautions & Warnings: Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment (maximum total daily dose should not exceed 8 mg in severe liver impairment), congenital long QT syndrome, or electrolyte imbalances.
