Concor AM

is a combination medication that contains two active ingredients:

 • Bisoprolol fumarate: a selective beta-1 blocker that lowers heart rate and reduces the workload on the heart.

 • Amlodipine: a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.

This dual-action formula is mainly prescribed for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina pectoris (chest pain), especially in patients who require combined therapy for better blood pressure control.

Available Strengths

 • Concor AM 5/5 mg: 5 mg Bisoprolol + 5 mg Amlodipine.

 • Concor AM 5/10 mg: 5 mg Bisoprolol + 10 mg Amlodipine.

Each pack contains 30 film-coated tablets.

Uses of Concor AM

Concor AM is prescribed for:

 • Hypertension (high blood pressure).

 • Reducing cardiovascular risks associated with hypertension (stroke, heart disease).

 • Angina pectoris (chest pain).

 • Improving blood circulation and reducing the strain on the heart.

How Concor AM Works

 • Bisoprolol lowers heart rate and decreases the force of contraction, resulting in reduced blood pressure.

 • Amlodipine dilates blood vessels, lowers vascular resistance, and enhances oxygen supply to the heart.

 • Together, they provide a dual mechanism of action for effective blood pressure and angina management.

Dosage & Administration

 • Usual dose: One tablet daily.

 • Can be taken with or without food.

 • Swallow tablets whole with water.

 • Dosage should always be determined by the physician based on the patient’s condition.

Possible Side Effects

Some patients may experience:

 • Headache or dizziness.

 • Slow heart rate (bradycardia) or palpitations.

 • Swelling of feet or ankles (due to amlodipine).

 • Fatigue or weakness.

 • Digestive issues (nausea, constipation).

 • Rare: breathing difficulties, allergic reactions, severe hypotension.

Warnings & Precautions

 • Not recommended in patients with severe heart failure or very slow heart rate.

 • Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment.

 • Do not discontinue suddenly; taper gradually under medical supervision.

 • Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

 • May mask signs of hypoglycemia in diabetic patients.
