CADURA 20 Tablets

Cardura  (Doxazosin) – 20 Oral Tablets

Cardura contains doxazosin mesylate, an alpha‑1 adrenergic receptor blocker taken orally to help both lower blood pressure and ease urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia – BPH).

Key Benefits:

• Dual action: Relaxes blood vessels to reduce hypertension and relaxes muscles in the prostate and bladder neck to improve urination in BPH. 
• Convenient dosing: Typically taken once daily, available in a 1 mg tablet strength. 
• Adjustable regimen: Can be gradually increased to manage varying patient needs—up to 16 mg for hypertension, or 8 mg for BPH. 

Usage Instructions:

• Take orally with or without food, as directed. 
• If treatment is interrupted for several days, it’s best to restart at the initial dose. 

Safety & Precautions:

• Orthostatic Risks: May cause dizziness or fainting, especially when standing—avoid rapid position changes. 
• Eye Surgery Warning: Can cause Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS) during cataract surgery—inform your surgeon if you’re using Cardura. 
• Allergies/Contraindications: Not for use in individuals allergic to doxazosin or other quinazolines. Use cautiously if prone to hypotension or with specific urinary tract conditions. 
• Drug Interactions: Combining with PDE‑5 inhibitors may amplify blood pressure-lowering effects. 
• Special Populations:
  
• Liver or kidney impairments require dose adjustments and monitoring. 
• Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not advised unless clearly needed. 
• Pediatric use is not established; usually reserved for adults. 
  

Possible Side Effects:

• Common: Dizziness, fatigue, headache, weakness. 
• Less Common/Serious: Orthostatic hypotension, palpitations, syncope, priapism (rare), allergic reactions.
